Reader Interviews.

FANTASTIC painting by Aurora Armijo. Check out her blog!

Okay so I have the best readers in the world. Does that sound pretentious? “I have readers”? I’m sorry if it does, I just want to say that I love you all so much!!

It’s like you all have a PhD in AWESOME. You’ve all got it going on. HOLLA!

I had a contest of sorts where I would interview the 400th person who liked me on Facebook. That beautiful lady is Soorya Arsala. Then I decided to interview Casey Murray because she was apparently waiting patiently to click “like” at just the right time, and missed it. That made me sad, so I made her an honorary interviewee.

Now for the rest of y’all: how did you find my blog? Anything you’d like to see more of? Less of? I’m open to anything! Holla!

Soorya

1. Give me three of your all time favorite quotes.
“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” – Mary Oliver

“It doesnt matter who you are or where you work. / It doesnt matter who you are or what you earn. / What matters is what you give and what you love. What matters is how you live and if you love.” – Hot Water Music from the song “Southeast First”

“Here, I got you your cage free milk. Happy? All my life milk was milk and an egg was egg. Now you make new things.” – @MyEthnicMom, an adorable Asian woman who in this quote is getting use to an organic lifestyle.

2. Who would play you in a movie?
Queen Latifa. She is classy, sassy, and strong. I would carry myself the same way as she did in her roles in Just Wright, Last Holiday, or (I mean, classic) Living Single. Disclaimer is I’m not African-American, so looks-wise… Maybe a mix of Casey Wilson from a certain angle, the cartoon Daria, and Kelly Osbourne when she’s drug-free.

3. What do you order at a bar and at a Starbucks?
I don’t drink booze but since the party is always at a bar, I kindly ask the bartender for a soda water but served so it seems like alcohol, throw a lime on the side, and tip big for going along with my ruse. I mean, no one seems to notice the difference and I don’t have to nurse a hangover the next day!

For Starbucks or a coffee shop, a chai soy latte. Duh-fabu-lish.

4. What’s your party jam this summer?
Guilty Pleasure Confession: Don Omar’s “Danza Kuduro”

This pick is all thanks to Zumba class that turned me on to this tune. Otherwise, my favorite genre to listen to is Mellow Beards along the lines of My Morning Jacket, Bon Iver, and Radical Face.

5. This tweet made me laugh: “Yep, totally slipped down stairs in the middle of a fancy crowd in my best formal dress. This is why I can’t keep anything nice, like a leg.” can you tell us more about this?
Thanks! Well I went to a fashion show that was a fundraiser for a local youth crisis center. It was a high-end event and part of the festivities that evening was a raffle contest. While hundreds of the who’s-who’s were mingling to and fro, the DJ announced my ticket number as one of the winners. In the endorphin rush of claiming my mysterious prize, my super high heels missed the end of a step and I tumbled down a set of stairs like a kid sledding down a hill but instead of a hill it was a platform of death made of carpet that gave me trails of rugburn and fresh bruising all down my legs. All I could do in the moment was pop back up just how Kerri Strug did in the Olympic finals. Oh yeah, this fiasco was all for a Brooks Brothers poncho. (Sad trombone.) Does anyone even know of someone that uses a poncho? If you do, I’ll send one their way as long as it is not back in time.

6. How did you find my blog? anything you’d like to see more or less of?
I stumbled on Apocolypstick via Hello Giggles! One hyperlink lead to another, and voila, I’m a fan. (#400 if Facebook is counting.)

I love the variety on the Apocolypstick blog and most of all, the brute honesty, humor, and pop culture nostalgia. Keep giving the internet content, please! There’s so many smart and funny ladies out there who can relate to your posts. Thanks for your commitment to Apocolypstick so the rest of us can browse and share your posts with our friends.

1. Who would play you in a movie?
Sophie Bennett! I won’t be offended if you need to Google this chick. You’ll quickly be reminded that she played Stevie Lake on the totally badass TV hit – The Saddle Club. Not only did she play Stevie with a ridiculous level of depth (remember all those times she almost died?!?!), she was my personal fave of the trio. Don’t bother asking why I’m obsessed with The Saddle Club, I don’t know. I don’t even like horses that much and I haven’t seen an episode in years.

2. What’s your party jam this summer?
Brighter Than the Sun – Colbie Caillat.  “Boy we go together like peanuts and paydays, Marley and reggae.” I dare you not to smile.

Hundred Million Dollar Soul – Kate Voegele. I love KV and her brand new album, Gravity Happens, is perfect for summer – charming, fun, sweet and NOT mushy-gushy stupid romantic.

3. How did you find my blog? Anything you’d like to see more or less of?
I found your blog through Twitter. I’d seen that Sophie Rossi had favorite-ed some of your tweets, so I started to follow you. Your Twitter page lead me to your blog (but not before I caught a video of you doing a Betty Draper impression, I almost died, not gonna lie). I really love the way you write and your videos are so funny. I particularly loved “Worst. Feminist. Ever”. I can’t even tell you the number of times I’ve felt like a terrible feminist for realizing that my life goal is to marry a Kennedy. Just keep doing what you’re doing!

And I love you. What’s your next plan of #meangirlscusack attack? or meangirlscusattack, as it were.

I found your blog by googling “I’m part John Cusack/part Marty McFly, looking for my dare-to-be-great moment with a Lea Thompson type.”

    Go figure.

Linked with one of your articles from This Recording, maybe the Grace Kelly is a Slut piece.

I am loving that painting, and of course your blog. My lovely friend turned me on to it and for that I will forever be in debt to her. (Also, I really wanted to be the 400th person to like you on facebook but I had already liked you. Oh wells)

Also, I really enjoyed those videos with Max Landis. Actually any videos you do, your comedic timing is always on point. So more of those would be fantastic!
